Enter Text: Spreadsheet Title
Text is a series of characters that is generally used to label rows and columns.

Click cell A1


    A1 becomes the active cell.

Type My Home Budget

    Excel displays the text you typed in the formula bar.

    Excel also displays three buttons:

      Cancel cancels your entry.

      Enter Clicking this is the same as pressing the Enter key.

      Edit Formula allows you to edit the current entry.

Click the Enter button


    Excel     left aligns the text in the cell.

    Since the text is wider then cell A1, Excel allows the text to spill over into the next cell. If you typed in cell B1, Excel would hide the overflow from cell A1, but this text would still be stored in cell A1.

    Note that Excel removes the from the formula bar, and the current cell still remains active.
